InputsIncoming water measurements

Bring together the online water-quality and process measurements agreed for the treatment duty. PMA reviews their location, units and history for the site.

Compass algorithmSite-specific dose prediction

A relationship developed from process evidence translates changes in incoming water into a predicted coagulant demand. The treatment objective shapes the model.

OutputCoagulant-dose control

The calculated dose feeds the agreed plant control arrangement. Control limits, the existing dosing approach and operator responsibilities are reviewed before handover.

Measurement

Influent spectral measurements and the applicable phosphorus measurement or surrogate.

Objective

A coagulant-dose prediction for chemical phosphorus removal in wastewater.

Control context

Application questions

A closer look.

Why consider the rest of the influent?

Coagulant demand is affected by more than phosphorus alone. The Compass CPR approach considers the non-phosphorus demand alongside the phosphorus component.

Can we use an existing phosphorus analyser?

Share the analyser, reporting basis, sample point and available signals. PMA reviews how those measurements could fit the proposed arrangement.

A clearer starting point

Your questions,
answered.

How is feed-forward control different?

Feed-forward control uses measurements of incoming water quality to calculate a dose before changes pass through treatment. A site-specific algorithm relates those measurements to coagulant demand.

Which Compass model should we consider?

Compass and Compass EOR cover drinking-water duties. Compass CPR and Compass CEP cover distinct wastewater duties. PMA can review your treatment objective, existing process and available measurements.

Does every installation use the same instruments?

The instrumentation and integration depend on the system generation and the site. A configuration review establishes the sensors, control signals, communications and installation arrangement for your project.

Can we use our existing plant measurements?

Share the instruments, signals and control arrangement already available at your site. Compatibility and the measurements required for your application need to be reviewed for the proposed configuration.
